What a great night had by all who attended our Advent-Potluck night at St. Christopher’s! The homemade dishes were delectable and good company, was even better. The children decorated sugar cookies and we took time to share our favorite Christmas memories by candlelight. The evening closed with Silent Night, and it was a beautiful way to celebrate the upcoming season. Thank you to all who attended.

Turkey Carving

Once again, St. Christopher’s Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Outreach Ministry was a huge success!  This large Outreach event combined the efforts of more than 50 parishioners, and our bountiful supply of 50 carved turkeys with all the fix’ins allowed the Church of the Advocate to serve over 250 needy people on Thanksgiving Day.

• -Members of the Soup Group and volunteers who packed or cooked many, many large food containers.
• -The parishioners who drove the vans full of food into North Philadelphia.

Thank you, also, to the many persons who made monetary contributions to support this parish-wide Outreach project.  What a wonderful effort that benefited so many!  A special thank you to Skip Irvine for organizing this Outreach activity!

St. Christopher’s Family Fun Day Halloween Party

We had a spook-tacular time at our Halloween Party yesterday. Thank you to all who entered cakes in our contest and for the volunteers who made the day such a success! We made crafts, ran a relay race, went trick or treating, read a spooky story, and finally enjoyed pizza and 8 yummy cakes and punch! What a fun day for all! Happy Halloween!

St Christopher’s Family Fun Day at Linvilla Orchards-October 2011

Our Families had a great time at Linvilla, picking apples, eating sweet treats, going through mazes and taking a hayride together. What a fabulous fall day! Thank you Elizabeth and Shawna for the pictures!

Dear Friends of St. Christopher’s,

Yesterday at our church services we announced our retirement dates. Mary will be leaving our staff after the Sunday services of February 10, 2013. Bill will be retiring after our morning worship services on Sunday, April 7, 2013. The reason for this early announcement is simply to allow us all to plan openly for a productive and joyful year ahead.

In the Sunday Forum yesterday the Vestry and Clergy discussed with the congregation the details of the ensuing processes of interim ministry and eventually the calling of a new Rector. In the near future we plan to have subsequent gatherings to further address these subjects.

The year ahead should be one of celebration, imaginative strengthening of ministry, and increased appreciation for the life we share together. As we go forward let us remember that we are called to follow Jesus Christ as we strive to build the Kingdom of God here on earth. By the grace of God, this will be an exciting, joyful and creative time in our lives.
