Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
3:00 — 4:30 p.m.

An opportunity to share in fellowship and increase our awareness of how Episcopal Services makes a difference in the lives of so many children, families and individuals in need.

Please bring a check made out to E.C.S. Every dollar given will go directly to serve women and children in poverty.

Please respond to Peg Schneider (610) 649-3087 by Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

The Good Friends program of ECS began five years ago to provide a way for women throughout our Diocese to join hands to overcome poverty. A yearly luncheon is held in the fall and provides an opportunity for women to discover the ways in which they can support the efforts of Episcopal Community Services in responding to the challenge that over 1/3 of Philadelphia’s children live below the official federal level, and more than 54% of families headed by a single mother with children under age 5 are impoverished. Poverty in Philadelphia is 2 ½ times the national average and it is on the rise. In the U.S. poverty is a woman’s issue because female-headed families are financially the worst off. Historically it has been women who have identified the poverty in our midst and then called for a compassionate response. St. Christopher’s is hosting this Afternoon Tea for a second year so that the women of our parish and their friends may gather once again to “taste and see” how together we can make a difference in the lives of women and children in poverty.

Community Outreach at the Clothier’s!

Sunday, November 29, 2009 - Thanks to everyone who came out to help at the Clothier’s.  Many hands made light work and we made a big difference as we prepared their property for the winter.  It was a beautiful display of neighborly love - just further evidence of God’s Love at work in the St. Chris community!
